Writing Syriac

In order to write Syriac characters by computer you need first:

to download and install a font supporting Syriac characters, such as:
- "Estrangelo Talada" font, at http://www.bethmardutho.org/support/meltho/download/
to install a program to easily type the characters, such as
- the program "Keyboard", downloadable from this site at http://www.webalice.it/sandro.carnevali/tastiera/keyboard.htm

In the picture down here you see the program "Keyboard", wtith the keyboard "Syriac (Font: "Estrangelo Talada")" selected in the menu "Middle East".
You get a keyboard showing the characters you can type using the mouse clicking in the different keys. The text may be saved as a rtf file, readable in Word or many programs more, or simply copied and pasted.
